I am interested in phonology and phonetics with a focus on East Asian languages,
especially Korean. The major topics I have been working on recently are:
1) Loanword phonology
2) Tone and accent
3) Analogy and variation
4) Historical development from Middle Korean to Contemporary Korean
5) Dialectal study (in particular on Yanbian Korean, Kyungsang Korean)
6) Sino-Korean phonology
7) Reconstruction of Proto-Korean phonological system
